When these terms say "we", "us", or "our", they mean ETF Matchmaker. When they say "you" or "your", they mean you, the person using the service.
What this service is (and is not)
ETF Matchmaker is an information service. You answer questions about your goals and preferences, and we show you ETFs that match your answers along with plain-English explanations.
This is not financial advice. We are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Nothing on this website is a personal recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any investment. Under Section 21 of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, we do not make financial promotions. We provide factual information about ETFs based on publicly available data.
The difference matters. A financial adviser gets to know your full circumstances, including your debts, tax situation, other investments, and dependants. We only know what you tell us in a short questionnaire. Our output is a starting point for your own research, not a finished plan.
Risk warnings
Investing involves risk. You need to understand the following before using this service:
- Capital at risk: The value of investments can go down as well as up. You may get back less than you invest, including losing your entire investment in extreme cases.
- Past performance: Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results. Just because an ETF has done well before does not mean it will continue to do so.
- No FSCS protection: ETF Matchmaker is not covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). If you are unhappy with our service, FSCS cannot help. Your investments themselves may have separate protections through your broker.
- Currency risk: Some ETFs hold assets in currencies other than GBP. Exchange rate movements can affect your returns positively or negatively.
- Your situation may change: What suits you today might not suit you in a year. Review your investments regularly or speak to a financial adviser.
Who can use this service
To use ETF Matchmaker, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Be a UK resident (our recommendations are based on UK-listed, UCITS-compliant ETFs and UK tax wrapper options)
- Provide accurate and honest answers to the questionnaire
- Accept these terms before making a purchase
If you are completing the questionnaire on behalf of a child (for example, to set up a Junior ISA), you must be the child's parent or legal guardian. The investment decision and responsibility remain yours.
Your responsibilities
You are responsible for your own investment decisions. Before acting on any information from this service, you should:
- Read the Key Information Document (KIID) or Key Investor Document (KID) for any ETF you are considering. These are available free from the ETF provider's website.
- Check that the ETF is available on your chosen investment platform
- Consider whether the ETF fits your overall financial situation, not just the answers you gave us
- Speak to a qualified, FCA-regulated financial adviser if you are unsure about anything
We cannot check whether you have done any of the above. The decision to invest is yours alone.
What you get
ETF Recommendations (Basic)
For £9.99 (early-bird price, normally £14.99), you receive 3 to 5 personalised ETF suggestions with a plain-English explanation for each one, information on where to buy them, and permanent access to your results page.
Full Portfolio
For £19.99 (early-bird price, normally £24.99), you receive everything in the basic tier plus a complete portfolio allocation with percentages, geographic and sector breakdown, and additional personalisation from 5 extra questions. You can also upgrade from basic to portfolio for £10.
Early-bird pricing is temporary. We will give reasonable notice before prices increase, but we are not obliged to honour the early-bird price indefinitely.
Payment and delivery
All payments are processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Prices are in GBP and include VAT where applicable.
When you complete payment:
- You are redirected to your results page immediately
- We email your results link to the address you provide at checkout
- Your results page has a unique URL you can bookmark
How long your results last: Your results are stored for 12 months from the date of purchase. After that, they are automatically deleted. If you want to keep your results permanently, bookmark the page and save or screenshot your recommendations while they are available.
Lost access? If you lose both your email and your bookmark, contact us at hello@etfmatchmaker.com with your purchase details and we will help you recover access, provided the 12-month retention period has not expired.
Refunds
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, digital content is delivered immediately after purchase. By completing your purchase, you consent to immediate delivery and acknowledge that this means you lose your 14-day statutory cooling-off right once the content has been delivered.
That said, we want you to be satisfied. If you genuinely feel that your recommendations do not match the answers you provided, email us at hello@etfmatchmaker.com within 30 days of purchase and we will issue a full refund. No complicated process, no arguments.
Refunds for upgrades (basic to portfolio) follow the same policy. The refund amount is the upgrade price you paid (£10), not the full portfolio price.
We reserve the right to refuse refunds where there is evidence of abuse, such as repeated purchases and refund requests.
What you cannot do
Your results are for your personal use. You may share them with a financial adviser for discussion purposes. You may not:
- Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit our recommendations
- Use automated tools to scrape, copy, or extract data from this website
- Use our service to build a competing product or service
- Misrepresent our output as personalised financial advice
- Create multiple accounts or use fake information to manipulate results
Intellectual property
All content on this website, including text, graphics, logos, the recommendation algorithm, and the curated ETF database, belongs to ETF Matchmaker or is used under licence.
ETF names, tickers, and fund data belong to their respective providers. We use this information under fair use for informational purposes.
You may print or save your personal results for your own reference. You may not reproduce, modify, or distribute any other part of this website without our written permission.
Your data
We collect your quiz answers and email address to provide the service. We do not sell your data, send marketing emails, or share your information with ETF providers. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for any investment losses you incur, whether or not they relate to ETFs we mentioned. Investment decisions are yours.
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of this service.
- Our total liability to you for any claim relating to this service is limited to the amount you paid us.
- We do not guarantee that any ETF will be available on your chosen platform, or that fund data (such as fees or holdings) will be accurate at the time you invest. ETF providers can change their products at any time.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
Service availability
We aim to keep the website available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may occasionally take the site down for maintenance without notice. We are not liable for any loss caused by temporary unavailability.
Complaints
If something is wrong, email us at hello@etfmatchmaker.com. We aim to respond within 5 working days. If you are not happy with our response, you can contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau or use the UK's alternative dispute resolution services.
Because we are not FCA-regulated, complaints cannot be referred to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will note the new date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the service after a change means you accept the updated terms. If you disagree with a change, stop using the service and contact us about any active purchases.
General
Severability: If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
Entire agreement: These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, make up the full agreement between you and us regarding this service.
No waiver: If we do not enforce a right under these terms on one occasion, that does not mean we waive it for the future.
Governing law: These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
